Shelby's Oat Milk Recipe

Untitled

Needed:

1 cup of rolled or quick-cook steel cut oats (gluten free if needed)
3-4 cups of water
Blender
Nut bag or cheesecloth

Directions:

1. Blend ingredients in a high power blender for 30-40 seconds - any longer than this may lead to an undesirable texture.

2. With your nut bag secured inside a bowl, pour the blended oats and water into the bag. Let it drain, then squeeze out as much milk as you can.

Enjoy this delicious oat milk. It will last about 4-5 days in the refrigerator. Be sure to shake well before each use, as it will experience some natural separation.

Notes: You can soak the oats for about 30 minutes before blending if you feel soaking grains before use helps your digestion. If you like a hint of sweetness, you can add 3-4 pitted dates before you blend. To make chocolate oat milk, simply add a flat tablespoon of cocoa powder before blending.

Be sure to buy organic oats since there may be unacceptably high levels of glyphosate (a weed killer) in non-organic versions.
